Artist Statement
It was a frigidly dark New Jersey winter night in 1977 when fate (is it not always fate?) brought me to my then-teenaged brother-in-law's Linden Senior High School Creative Arts Fair. There, at the "Haiku for Fun" booth, I met my muse, du Ciel, for the first time. The teacher critiquing each person's missive waived mine around, loudly asking "Who wrote this?!" So now, I get to thank this unknown teacher for his strong encouragement that night to "just keep writing" when I did not know I could .... And, for unleashing my Bad Ass Lions so that this Medicine Woman can share her thoughts with you. I write from the New Jersey Shore where I live.
